Mark A. Serwinowski


Mark A. Serwinowski is President and Founder of MetaVu, Inc., a recognized thought leader
in sustainable development. MetaVu helps companies develop the business case for
sustainability, drive the innovation process and measure the return on investment (ROI).
For 22 years, Mark has practiced in the EHS and Sustainability space, helping Global 1000
companies realize the economic benefits of managing energy, environmental and social
performance from a business perspective. He has held management and equity positions at
leading product and service companies in the EHS, remediation and environmental risk
management sectors and founded MetaVu in 2002.

His work cascades multiple sectors, from the commodity markets in forest products, mining
and oil and gas; to renewables and electricity distribution in the “smart grid”; to sectors
that manufacture building materials, the technology we use, the medicines we take, the
food we eat, the clothes we wear and the cars we drive.

As chief strategy officer for MetaVu, Mark’s advisory helps simplify the complexity of
investing in sustainability and empowers executives to choose investment strategies best
for their business. His award-winning work has helped structure, benchmark and inform
innovation of numerous company business models and products in the marketplace.
MetaVu’s advisory services and subscription products help companies leverage
sustainability as a strategy for value creation. This includes the Sustainable Development
(SD) Tool SuiteTM designed to measure environmental and social performance impact.
MetaVu advisors help company executives address sustainability issues in context of

Mr. Serwinowski holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the State University of New York at
Buffalo, and contributes to the Dean’s Advisory Council of the UB School of Arts and
Sciences. He also contributes to the University of Denver – Institute for Leadership and
Organizational Performance and is an Executive Mentor in the Daniels College of Business.
He is published on various topics related to business, environmental and social performance
and is presently writing an article for the Journal for Applied Financial Management
identifying the leading indicators & predictive analytics that enable improved strategic
planning tied to measurable ROI in financial terms. He is an active member of the NAEM
Affiliates Council, working in partnership with 1,500 corporate members to achieve the
Association's goal of advancing EHS and sustainability management best practices. And he
is co-anchor of the www.theChangingESGlandsape.com, a Quarterly Analyst Call designed
to share trends and best practice on ESG reporting in the markets.
